1. Apple iPhone 15

The upcoming Apple iPhone 15 is generating a lot of excitement with several rumours and leaks regarding its features, improvements, and release date. Here’s what we know so far:

Design

The iPhone 15 models will resemble the iPhone 14 models, with a pill-and-hole cutout that expands across the entire lineup. This means that all iPhone 15 models will have a sleeker design without a notch, thanks to the Dynamic Island introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

The iPhone 15 Pro models are also expected to feature titanium frames, slimmer bezels, and more curved device edges. What’s more, there will be a new “Plus” model in the lineup that’s 6.7 inches in size, making the lineup as follows:

It should also be noted that the standard iPhone 15 models won’t have ProMotion or always-on-display technologies, which are again reserved for the Pro devices.

In an expected twist, Apple will also replace the Lightning port with a USB-C port on all models of iPhone 15. This move not only aligns with new European regulations but also offers convenience for users who can now charge multiple Apple devices with a single charging standard.

Apple is expected to adopt Sony’s latest image sensors for the iPhone 15 models, which promise improved image quality and better performance in challenging lighting conditions. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models might also feature a 48MP camera, offering enhanced image-capturing capabilities.

Moreover, iPhone 15 Pro Max models are expected to be equipped with periscope lens technology for enhanced zoom capabilities.

Performance

The iPhone 15 models will come with upgraded modem chips from Qualcomm, supporting faster 5G speeds, improved coverage, and lower latency. The Pro models are expected to feature the Qualcomm X70 chip, providing better power efficiency and AI processing capabilities.

The standard iPhone 15 models will use the A16 chip from the iPhone 14 Pro models, while the “Pro” models will utilize the more advanced 3-nanometer A17 chips.

Advantages for Business Users

The iPhone 15 brings several advantages for business users and organizations. The improved camera technology and upgraded image sensors can enhance productivity by enabling high-quality video conferencing and document scanning on the go.

The faster modem chips and 5G capabilities ensure seamless connectivity for remote work, while the USB-C port allows for easy compatibility with various accessories commonly used in business environments.

Additionally, the performance improvements, such as the A17 chip and faster data transfer speeds, enable smooth multitasking and efficient app usage, benefitting professionals who rely on their iPhones for work.

iPhone 15 Release Date and Pricing

The iPhone 15 was released on September 22nd, 2023, following Apple’s traditional September launch pattern.

2. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Z Fold 5 new folding phone concept 2023

Next on our list of new mobile phones expected to come out in 2023 – the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5; the highly anticipated successor to the current leading foldable phone. The Z Fold5 is expected to bring significant improvements to maintain Samsung’s edge in the competitive market. Here are what we currently know about the device:

Camera

The Galaxy Z Fold 5’s camera is rumoured to receive substantial upgrades, potentially featuring a mighty 108MP resolution. Leaked information is inconsistent regarding the camera specifications, but Samsung is expected to enhance image sensors and improve image quality

There are some other rumours that suggest the foldable will have the same cameras as its predecessor, which was equipped with a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, 12MP 3x zoom telephoto camera, a 10MP outer selfie camera, and a 4MP under-display inner camera.

Performance

To deliver powerful performance, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is anticipated to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, ensuring enhanced speed and more efficient battery usage. The chipset, expected to be announced soon, will likely provide a serious performance boost, surpassing regular Android flagship phones.

Additionally, Samsung is likely to introduce One UI updates specifically tailored for the Z Fold 5’s inner display, optimizing user experience and productivity.

Design and Displays

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is rumoured to feature a slimmer and more durable design, with a waterdrop hinge that could potentially minimize the display crease. This new hinge mechanism, internally referred to as the “dumbbell” hinge, might improve durability and allow for increased folding and opening capabilities. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to offer both dust & water resistance

Although the design changes may impact the flexibility of the hinge, hindering the use of Flex Mode, the overall improvements in durability and functionality outweigh this drawback. Also, the screens of the device will be OLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates, consisting of a 6.2-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display

Battery and Charging

The Z Fold 5 may not outperform regular phones in battery efficiency due to limited internal space and dual displays. While lasting longer than the Galaxy Z Fold 4‘s 8 hours and 20 minutes is desirable, reaching the 10-hour mark achieved by most mobiles is a goal we hope the Z Fold series can achieve.

Similarly, the charging speed is a concern. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the fastest-charging Samsung foldable at up to 25W, but other Android phone brands offer faster charging. If Samsung doesn’t upgrade charging on the Galaxy S series, it’s unlikely to be improved on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Advantages for Business Users

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 presents several advantages for business users and organizations. Its enhanced camera capabilities and split-screen functionality ensure high-quality visuals for presentations, documentation, and creative work.

The powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and optimized software enable seamless multitasking, efficient app usage, and smoother productivity. Business professionals can take advantage of the larger inner display, allowing them to view and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with ease.

Moreover, the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s dust resistance and improved durability make it suitable for various work environments, providing peace of mind to users who frequently travel or work in rugged conditions.

Samsung Z Fold 5 Release Date and Pricing

Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 5 on 11th August 2023, soon after the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26th, 2023. Our estimated global launch turned out to be correct after all!

The device is priced at ~£1,749, which is similar to its previous generation. However, a price reduction is also possible, which is good news for a wider variety of business users:

Google’s Pixel Fold boasts a sleek and thin design, distinguishing itself from competitors. It offers a compact form factor both when the device is open or closed.

The hinge of the device is believed to be the most durable in the market as it’s rated for up to 200,000 folds. It also comes with an IPX8 rating for water resistance. The Pixel Fold’s cover display features a 5.8-inch OLED panel, while the main display unfolds to reveal a 7.6-inch OLED screen. Both displays offer 120Hz refresh rates.

The Pixel Fold houses a 4,727 mAh battery, surpassing the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in capacity and delivering impressive longevity. In testing, it lasted for ~10 hours!

Advantages for Business Users

The Pixel Fold presents several advantages for business users and enterprises alike. Its split-screen functionality allows users to work efficiently, simultaneously running two apps side by side and facilitating easy content and file sharing.

The inclusion of a taskbar, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, streamlines app switching and enhances productivity. Google’s collaboration with third-party developers, including TikTok, Spotify, and Disney Plus, ensures optimized experiences for business-related applications.

With the addition of Google Workspace, the Pixel Fold is shaping up to be one of the best new phones coming out for business users this 2023.

Google Pixel Fold Release Date and Pricing

Last but by no means least on our list of upcoming new phones for 2023 – the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. This model will offer some clear improvements over its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 4. With rumours and leaks circulating, let’s take a look at what we know about this upcoming new foldable phone:

Design, Display, and Colors

Line-up of new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 folding mobile phone models in 4 colours

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to retain the same basic shape as previous Z Flip devices, featuring a foldable 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD display with an adaptive refresh rate. However, there are rumours of a new waterdrop hinge design that aims to make the display crease less visible.

The phone may also have a larger cover display, addressing one of the previous model’s shortcomings. The device is expected to come in eight colours, including blue, green, platinum, yellow, beige, grey, light green, and light pink.

Cameras

While the Z Flip 4 had decent cameras, there’s room for improvement. Initial rumours suggest that the Z Flip 5 may feature dual 12MP rear cameras for both the main and ultrawide lenses.

While the resolution might not see a significant upgrade, Samsung could enhance the camera performance through improved software. Although it may not reach the level of the Galaxy S23‘s camera, the Z Flip 5 is expected to offer better photography capabilities than its predecessor.

Performance

Close up shot of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Samsung Galaxy smartphones

Like the Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, but it remains uncertain whether it will be the standard or overclocked version.

Benchmarks indicate that the Z Flip 5 could outperform even the Galaxy S23 Ultra on Geekbench. Additionally, the phone is rumoured to offer UFS 4.0 storage on models with at least 256GB, resulting in faster read/write speeds and data transfer. This upgrade would enhance overall performance and user experience.

Battery and Charging

One area where the Z Flip 5 needs improvement is battery life. The Z Flip 4’s 3,700 mAh battery lasted around 8 hours, which could be enhanced for the Z Flip 5. Reports claim that Flip 5’s battery will approach that of the Galaxy S23.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip’s power efficiency should contribute to better battery performance. However, it’s unlikely that charging speeds will see a significant boost, with wired charging likely to remain at 25W and wireless charging at 15W.

Advantages for Business Users

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 offers advantages to business users and all businesses in general. Its compact design allows for easy portability, fitting conveniently into pockets.

The large foldable display is perfect for productivity tasks such as reviewing documents, multitasking, and video conferencing. With the Flex mode, users can take hands-free photos and engage in video calls, making it ideal for remote meetings or capturing content on the go.

Moreover, the Z Flip 5’s advanced performance and improved camera capabilities cater to the needs of business professionals who rely on their mobile for various tasks.

Samsung Z Flip 5 Release Date and Pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 released August 11th, 2023, a few months after the Galaxy Unpacked event held on July 26th. In the case of price, the Z Flip 5 is £1,049, a little higher than the previous price of Z Flip 4 of ~£765.
