What's new on the iPhone 18?
Apple announced three phones on 9 September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo, its first folding iPhone. All three run the A20 Pro, Apple’s first 2nm chip, with a 7-core GPU up to 40% faster than A19 Pro and a dual 16-core Neural Engine giving twice the on-device AI processing of A19 Pro. The Pro models add a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4.0, a vapour chamber with three times the surface area of the previous generation, and Apple’s C2 modem, which uses 15% less energy than C1X. A standard iPhone 18 was not announced and has no release date.
What's the difference between the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max?
Size and battery. The Pro has a 6.3-inch display and weighs 211g. The Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display, weighs 249g, and is rated by Apple at up to 43 hours of video playback, six hours more than iPhone 17 Pro Max. Everything else matches: A20 Pro chip, three 48MP cameras with variable aperture, aluminium unibody with Ceramic Shield 2, 50% charge in around 15 minutes. UK RRP is £1,199 for the Pro and £1,299 for the Pro Max, both starting at 256GB and going up to 2TB. On business plans with us that’s from £46 and £51 a month.
What is the iPhone Duo?
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s first foldable iPhone: a 5.4-inch outer screen that opens to a 7.6-inch inner display, 50% larger than iPhone 18 Pro Max. It has a titanium frame and hinge, measures 5.2mm open and 11.3mm closed, and weighs 254g. Two 48MP cameras with no telephoto lens, so zoom stops at 4x. It is eSIM-only in every country, with no SIM tray, and Apple says more than 500 carriers are supported. UK pre-orders open at 1pm on Friday 16 October, with availability from Friday 23 October, five weeks behind the Pro models. RRP starts at £1,999.
Is the iPhone 18 worth it for business?
It depends what your team is carrying now. From an iPhone 17 Pro the gains are incremental: faster graphics, better sustained performance under load, variable aperture on the main camera. From an iPhone 15 or older the jump is substantial, mainly on battery and charging. A Pro Max now runs to 43 hours of video playback and reaches 50% charge in about 15 minutes on a 60W adapter, which changes what a day of site visits or client meetings looks like without a power bank. The camera upgrades matter less for most business users than the charge speed does.
How much is the iPhone 18 for a business team?
