Everything you Need to Know about the Samsung Galaxy S20 Series

The big reveal is finally here, and we’ve got all the details for you…

Samsung finally unveiled the new Galaxy range just yesterday on stage in San Francisco – and we’re pretty excited.

Much like previous years, the flagship range consisted of three new devices: the Samsung Galaxy S20, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. All three handsets are, as expected, incredibly high-end smartphones (and all 5G enabled!) – but there are still several differences between them. Let’s go through them all:

Price

Samsung Galaxy S20 5G – £899

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G – £999

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G – £1,199

Display

As you can pretty much guess, the three smartphones all have different display sizes, with the S20 Ultra coming in at the largest with a 6.9″ screen.

The S20 plus follows closely behind with 6.7″, and the S20 with a (still massive) 6.2″ display.

Despite the size differences, all three smartphones have the Infinity-O AMOLED display, and support HDR10+. They also have an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Design

All three devices come in the colours: Cloud Blue, Cloud Pink, Cosmic Black, and Cosmic Grey. They all have glass rears and aluminium frames.

Camera

The entire S20 Range has an incredible set of cameras, but there are subtle differences.

The Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus both have 12 mega-pixel main cameras on the rear. They also have a 64 mega-pixel telephoto lens, and a 12 mega-pixel ultra wide lens. The only difference is that the S20 Plus also has a ToF sensor for depth.

The S20 Ultra, on the other hand, differs quite greatly. Its main rear camera is 108 mega-pixels, its telephoto lens is 48 mega-pixels, and its ultra-wide lens is 12 mega-pixels. It also has a ToF sensor.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S20 – 4,000 mAh

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus – 4,500 mAh

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra – 5,000 mAh

Specs

The entire range comes with the Exynos 990 chipset in the UK (the US uses the Snapdragon 865). All three phones also have a minimum of 12GB RAM.

In terms of storage, all phones come with 128GB although the Plus and Ultra models have an additional 512GB version. The three devices all have a microSD slot, all run Android 10, and all support 5G – though once again, the Ultra has a wider range.

Our Conclusion?

The S20 Series are an incredibly impressive set of phones, full of powerful features and great cameras – they are an ideal flagship for Samsung this year.

In terms of the best phone? While the S20 and S20 Plus are pretty similar – the S20 Ultra definitely stands out in terms of screen size, camera set up, and extra RAM.
