Samsung Galexy S-i9000 |
The Samsung Galaxy may look like the iPhone but thats not a problem as this handset has many features that make it a phone of its own.
|

Samsung have played to their strengths and have made a beautifully designed handset , and left the software to Google Android.
Feather light
Though it may look like the iPhone there are some very obvious differences, there are two touch-sensitive buttons on the front instead of one for a start. The screen is 4 inches long and this means there is loads of space to tap around and the screen doesn’t feel cramped.
The weight of the phone is 119g meaning it is light in comparison to any other smart phone of this calibre.
Most phones suffer from glare issues in bright light settings, meaning it is almost impossible to read the screen or check your emails.
Samsung have managed to overcome this with the Galaxy and we had no problem using it during the brightest days of summer. The screen has 480 x 800-pixel resolution which is enough to compete with most phones out at the moment.
Light speed
The term ‘Galaxy’ is probably given to this phone due to its light speed Wi-Fi and internet connectivity. HSUPA connectivity insures that you will always have fast web browsing over 3G and when you connect to a network. Amazingly, you can use the phone to tether other devices onto the internet, this means wirelessly you can connect to the internet using your device. So if you’re on the road and need to stop and get some work sent to your boss you will be able to do so by using your phone like a router.
The Galaxy has the largest capabilities of memory available to any smart phone, with 8 or 16 GB of internal memory and the capability to hold up to 32 GB on a microSD card, the Galaxy is a monster.
The serious space given is convenient as with a stunning 5 megapixel camera you will want to be snapping up pics all the time. The photo quality is great in bright light and with the LED flash is also acceptable in dim lighting too.
There is also an FM radio built in to the device so those morning train rides won’t feel so long anymore.
Widgets
Along with applications Samsung also have supplied you with widgets which serve as quick tabs for services alot of apps can provide. You may believe that seems pointless, but not having to load up applications and have live RSS feeds to your social networking sights and emails is really really handy.
These widgets are available for the Android market and are not too expensive. The daily briefing app is one we recommend to all workers as it’s really good for setting reminders and scheduling your day, much better than the calendar anyway.
The widgets are only an option and if you find you don’t want them they are just as quick to remove as they are to install. The apps are all available from the same place and they are handled by Google, meaning there are hundreds of useful apps just waiting for you to grab.
Conclusion
Thanks to Android's software genius and Samsung's hardware ingenuity, the Galaxy S is a hugely impressive smart-phone device, and a light one at that. The two companies coming together feels so right, all of the apps available make it easy to increase the functionality of your device and customize it to your standards.
The device is cheaper than an iPhone and can do much of the same thing. We recommend getting your hands on this one as it really is a pleasure to use, and look at.
