The Nokia X6 |
Nokia has finally stepped up and made a touch screen phone worth cracking open the piggy bank for.
|

It is an amalgamation of all their previous touch screen phones, a correction of all the wrongs that were apparent in the models that came before it.
A lot of time has passed since the last effort Nokia made, with the 5800, and although not much seems to have changed, there is a lot to write home about with the x6 model.
Beautiful touch
Nokia’s previous effort, 5800, had an irresponsive touch screen and was almost too chunky in its design. The same cannot be said about the x6, this is a slender piece of technology that responds quicker than a hyper sensitive person having a reflex test.
The X6 uses a touchscreen-orientated version of Nokia's Symbian operating system, which will have you feeling as if your using a home desktop with its simple tap/ double tap system to select and access apps and features.
The X6'stouch screen feels a lot more natural than previous Nokia phones as you don’t have to dig your nail into the screen or smash your stylus into the screen to get a response, this phone reacts to the touch of your finger.
Music magic
The X6 can hold an impressive 32GB of memory and has Nokia's exclusive Comes With Music service, so it isn’t very difficult to fill up your handset with a year’s worth of audible tracks, and you have the choice of thousands of tracks at your fingertips….Literally.
The tracks obtained from this service are DRM encoded to prevent piracy and swapping between devices, but if you keep your subscription renewed the x6 will be welcome replacement to your regular portable music device.
Moving tracks onto the phone via computer has never been easier with Nokia’s simple to use Ovi suite, our favourite feature of this is that you can move tracks wirelessly between devices using your phones Bluetooth.
With the x6’s fantastically apt amount of storage and access to an endless amount of free tracks, this is more than a phone it’s a fully-functioning juke box.
Snap-Happy
The X6 boasts a fantastic 5-megapixel camera that we can tell you is an absolute pleasure to use, and this is predominantly down to its Yussain Bolt shutter speed. Capturing the moment is exactly that, you don’t have to wait with a sniper steady hand to get the image you want, even when shooting at the highest quality settings. For a camera phone it really is impressive, all the pictures are bright and there is no pixilation or loss of curves from your snap-shots. The x6 comes with, not one but, two LED’s which make illuminating objects or people in the dark simple and effective.
Summary
If you love music, or if it’s just a useful way to lower the volume of those noisy train rides, then the x6 is endlessly useful with its never ending supply of free music and colossal 32 GB of memory storage. The responsive and capacitive touchscreen is a fantastic improvement from Nokia and, if that’s not enough, it looks a whole lot better than the 5800 too. The camera is more than accommodating to the user’s needs and it comes with a standard headphone jack slot, which stops you being forced to only use developer made clunky and inaudible headphones.
Overall, the X6 is proof that Nokia able to create fantastic touchscreen phones and compete with other developers and even arguably out do the competition with its boast of free music.
