If you like to use your Business mobile phone for both work & personal use as well
AND if you love the PC “type-ability” of a full QWERTY keyboard – then the new
Nokia E75 is definitely- your kind of phone..
Indeed while everyone else is going on about “touch screens” if you’re like us -- and you like a good old-fashioned PC like QWERTY keyboard, then the brand new Nokia E75 is definitely for you.
This is definitely a phone with a split personality. Initially it looks like any other candy bar sized phone. But looks can be deceiving - because not only does it have a standard alphanumeric keypad on the candy bar exterior - a full Qwerty keypad also slides out from underneath.
When you then throw in more highlights such as inclusive 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a decent 3.2-megapixel camera. This is a phone that’s good for both work and pleasure!
A compact size
The Nokia E75 is also a phone that’s great if you want compact size. We were very impressed that Nokia had managed to pack a full QWERTY keyboard into such a small candy bar sized form. Unfortunately though – you can’t always have your cake and eat it because - the keys aren’t as easy to type on as say a phone like the Blackberry Javeline 8900 - but that’s what you get for putting size over type-ability.
Also if you want to type out numbers, you'll have to press the “shift key” or stretch your fingers to reach the numbers on the standard phone keypad on the front.
It’s still useable it’s just that a slide out QWERTY is obviously a size compromise. Size over great typing functionality.... Your choice. Watch a Video Here
The work / live balance
One great feature is the fact that it has a home page for work and a home page for personal. Which is great if you like to keep stuff separate. The E75's user interface will come as no surprise to anyone who's ever owned a Nokia before. Nokia has stuck with the same old homepage look and feel. It shows new emails, calendar entries and a range of shortcuts. In truth this interface is starting to look a bit dated. But then again we say hey 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Plus if you really want a touch screen and jazzy interface - get an iphone right?
This is generally a classy phone that also has a decent 3.2 megapixel camera, a 16 million colour QVGA screen. and features Nokia Maps.
At a good sized 61mm (2.4 inches), the screen is great for watching videos and connecting to Wi-Fi is super easy thanks to the E75's wireless scanner. Battery life is also decent, with the charge still going strong after a day of testing. There's also an FM radio and media player, which you can enjoy via the very welcome standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
Summary: While BlackBerry is still the king of business phones – The new Nokia E75 could be a good choice if you want to stick with the good old Nokia user interface (that we all know and love) and if you
really want the choice of both a keyboard and a number pad.
