The new Nokia E71 is a great mid range 3G phone with a 5 megapixel camera
- it reminds us of why Nokia is still top of the mobile pile.
The Nokia E71 offers an impressive Business experience that will help keep your ideas fresh, make collaboration a breeze and improve all aspects of work flow.
With this phone you get a desktop – like business email experience with integrated Mail for Exchange. It comes with a full QWERTY keyboard with enhanced Messaging & effortless switching between inboxes for Business and Private email.
The E71 is a solid looking phone – you get the feeling if you dropped it... it would just turn around and ask for more! Yet for a chucky metal construction - it’s also surprisingly light.
The E71 is Feature Packed
Usually these sort of Email-centric, business-oriented phones can be a tad dull. Not so the E7. It’s packed with exciting features. However having said that, it focuses on the basics first.
You Got Mail
Setting up your personal email, such as Gmail or Yahoo, is really easy. All you have to do is put in your email address and password – and you’re done! That's it. Connecting to the Internet to receive emails and browse Web sites is possible almost everywhere you go, via HSDPA (3.5G) or Wi-Fi. Using the built-in Wi-Fi scanner, it's easy to find a hotspot and connect to it. A great noteworthy feature is the E71's start page. This is so good because lets you display emails, apps and other features, but that's not all. You can also set up one start page for home and one for work! Brilliant. As we all know sometimes it’s important to keep certain aspects of your life separate, such as work and personal emails.
Never get lost again
A built in GPS receiver and built in Nokia maps means you’ll never get lost again. This awesome Nokia Maps application means you can plan your journey before you start whether by foot or car. Triangulation can be used for map-reading and determining the location of your local places, bistros etc.
Well Connected
Surfing the Net is better than with most built-in browsers. Pages are displayed in full and, interestingly, the E71's browser supports Flash.
You have great connectivity with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS. The only feature that left us very disappointed was the 3.2-megapixel camera. Its shutter speed was slow and it took blurry photos. We hope the next model in the E series offers a much better camera.
Like your Music?
The Nokia E71 even has a built-in FM radio so you can listen to travel news or your favourite radio station. The phone has an impressive music player where so why not download your favourite album onto your Music player and take it with you. Music formats including MP3, AAC and H263 to name but a few.
Summary: While most business phones leave you yearning for something that works well as a phone for Business and for home.... Then Nokia E71 is the business phone we've all been waiting for. It looks great and most importantly it packs enough features to deal with a everyday life. While the camera could be better - we think this is one of the best Nokia email phones to date.
