The Nokia 2330 |
The Nokia 2330 Classic is the latest in a long line of great handsets that are both Great Value and also Practical. This phone is efficient and long lasting, meaning with 540 hours of stand-by battery life you can give Paula Radcliffe’s endurance a solid run for her money.
For such a cheap handset this model comes with some useful extra features, including a music player and radio, and a VGA-resolution snapper. The snapper may not show your pics in high definition but is perfect for quick and easy snaps.

33-when?
The 2330 is something of a throwback to the good old days. Purposefully simple, it doesn't mess around with touchscreens nor does it attempt to be on the cutting edge of smart phone technology with a hundred and one apps at your disposal. It’s simply made to handle your calls and texts and if you really want to, you can listen to some music while you do it.
Its design is basic, but that’s a good thing as this phone feels durable. The black, plastic battery cover feels as if it’s made to handle the bumps and bruises of everyday life, while its smooth tapered edges means that the phone lies in your hand comfortably.
At just 80g, you won’t be able to feel this lightweight handset in your pocket, and it can fit in the tightest of trousers without causing any unsightly bulges.
As soon as you have had a couple of minutes to get acquainted with the handset, it feels familiar like an old friend your seeing for the first time in years. You can dive straight into messaging, music, Web-access and calendar functions, using the simple navigation pad placed in the centre of the device.
Every key that surrounds the centre navigation pad feels useful and has a purpose opposed to the myriad of buttons placed on more modern handsets. This phone shows a developer at the most conscientious, it isn’t fiddly or complicated, it just works like you would want it to . There's no over-the-top bravado…. just basic mobile phone necessities implemented as they should be.
Audibly Great
The 2330 has limited features but those it does have are fantastic. The music player, with it’s drag and drop functionality, is surprisingly easy to get acquainted with, although it only supports AAC , this isn’t a problem if you have Apple's free iTunes player.
Users may find it annoying that they can’t directly transfer MP3 and WAV files on to their phone, but with one quick search of iTunes on the internet your MP3 files are automatically converted into AAC format. The navigation keypad is perfect to skip through songs and to listen to your own tracks while you get all your texts sent and read through your messages.
The phone only holds 32MB of space so while you may not be able to put all 4000 songs you have in your possession on your phone, you will be able to cycle through an album at a time and enjoy each album as it should be enjoyed.
We tested this phone to really test its endurance and we were shocked we didn’t have to recharge it until after 4 days, I know right it’s hard to find a phone that can last a day anymore. Did I mention in those 4 days we were making calls, lots of them, shooting texts into space, used the web to deal with any emails we had and spent time listening to our favourite album on loop. Impressive right? Compare that to any handset you have used in the last few years. Talk time is published at 4 hours and 48 minutes, with 540 hours of standby time.
Basic-ally Perfect
At it’s low and affordable price, it is very difficult to find a fault with the Nokia 2330, even when you try to. The music player is great, the battery life is one of the best out there and it is a very simple handset to get to grips with. This is a phone for people who don’t need all the bells and whistles that are attached to the touch screen and smart phone generation, this is a phone that does the basics and it does them well.
