The BlackBerry Curve 8900 - which - in following in the distinguished line of the 8300’s - is possibly the best sequel we‘ve seen since the Godfather Part II
|
The new BlackBerry Curve 8900 isn't just a “small improvement” on its predecessor the 8300. No – seriously - it literally wipes the floor clean with it in every
conceivable way!

Although this phone is smaller than the Bold, it packs in nearly as many awesome features! The BlackBerry Curve 8900 is one of our favourite BlackBerries to date. With it’s brilliant QWERTY keypad & hi-res screen,
this is an almost perfect device for mobile email. Other top features include a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, a video camera, a music player, GPS, a heavy duty battery, WiFi, and a stack load of memory....
The only significant thing missing is 3G.
The new Curve 8900 is beautifully built and styled and offers a sleeker and more solidly constructed design than it’s predecessor - the 8300 family.
As always the Full QWERTY keyboard makes typing a breeze and the ridges on the key pad make for a far more precise texting or email experience.
We really love the Curve family and the 8900 is no exception because it’s small sleek and sexy in the hand – and it’s got everything you could possibly ask for in a phone – well, everything that is unless your desperate to surf the web – but we’ll go into that later - then it’s a tossup between this Awesome device and the BlackBerry Bold.
The new 8900 smart phone features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS & brings in a whole new set of productivity tools like
Word, pdf reader, excel etc.... and it has a full HTML Web browser.
The only let down of the new Curve 8900 is that it lacks 3G support. If you want this then we recommend the Blackberry Bold which is 3G Enabled. It’s a shame because otherwise this is a phone with everything.
On the plus side though... the Curve 8900 features an awesome sharp and bright screen. It’s easy to navigate with the track ball and it has an excellent battery life. This is quoted at up to a mammoth six hours talk time and 19 days of standby. That’s right... 19 DAYS!!!!
The stunning high resolution display is down to a 2.4-inch screen – which is a joy to behold - with razor sharp icons and truly vivid colours.
The 8900 comes with GPS and is able to be triangulated via Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) so now you can know exactly where you are by using it like a Tomtom. So now you’ll be able to download Google maps and utilise third party solutions such as Handset tracking or Vehicle Navigation all via your mobile phone! Amazing!!!
The camera in the 8900 is better too with a welcome increase from the 2.0 megapixels seen in both the 8300 and the Bold - to a more impressive 3.2-megapixels. Plus it comes with autofocus and an LED flash present and protected under a class cover.
It also has a microSD expansion slot for those of you that like to pile on music and joy of joys it also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack! The 8900 also comes with a Full HTML Web browser and a whole host of product tools.
In summary: While we're a tad disappointed by the lack of 3G, the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 is truly a solid update to the Curve series, bringing a better design, improved features, and faster performance and is one of Blackberry’s top Smartphone offerings.
The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900 offers a sleeker and more solidly constructed design as well as a brilliant display.
