HTC Touch Diamond |
Diamonds may well be forever, but the new HTC Touch Diamond (made exclusively for T-Mobile) is so useful it is going to be the busy business persons, lifelong,
best friend!
|

The new HTC Touch Diamond (in its T-Mobile guise) features the latest version of the TouchFLO user interface, mobile email and a impressive 3.2 Mega pixel camera!
Combine this with the impressive new user interface, and you have a look that easily matches the iPhone, even if it’s not yet a direct competitor.
This HTC Touch Diamond is actually a MDA Compact IV; the same phone, built by HTC and with the same specification, but made exclusively for T-Mobile. It has a more conservative look than the ‘original’ and is slightly better for it.
HTC Touch Diamond Features:
- Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
- Touchflo UI
- Camera: 3.2-megapixels
- SMS, MMS, email, IM
- Music/video player
- WiFi
The screen itself is a 2.8 inch TFT-LCD with full VGA resolution meaning you have plenty of room to view pictures from the onboard 3.2 megapixel camera, or movies.
Browsing the web on this phone is great too as the large touchscreen is complimented by broadband like speed thanks to the HSDPA and Wi-fi data connectivity.
T-Mobile have slightly altered the TouchFLO user interface, adding its trademark network colour scheme and icons. Also there’s also a very good Windows Mobile home screen replacement which now shows upcoming appointments.
Meanwhile on the contacts screen, it enables you to scroll through names and a similar one for email shows messages in envelopes. Internet Explorer is included, along with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Browsing the web is a breeze thanks to the zoom feature: First you’ll see an overview of the web page and, on this amazing VGA screen, its really crisp. Then you’ll be able to zoom in by tapping the screen! Brilliant or what!!
Unfortunately the 3.2-megapixel camera doesn’t have a flash, but it does have autofocus and it takes a decent image. Video recording is also basic and a little bit jerky.
The music player has fancy graphics, assuming your files have embedded album art, but the controls are limited to playing music, which is odd considering you can select artist, album, genre, age and manage playlists.
Summary: The touch screen and slick user interface define this as the PDA of choice. The Touch FLO 3D front end is phenomenal, as is the Opera browser, and the camera isn’t bad either.
